1. Introduction

An Extempore Competition was successfully organised at SVS for students from Standards I to XII. The event aimed to develop spontaneous thinking, confident oral expression, and effective communication skills among students. It formed an integral part of the school’s holistic development programme and provided a valuable platform for students to overcome stage fright and showcase their linguistic abilities.

2. Objectives

The primary objectives of the competition were:

  • To encourage spontaneous thinking and organised expression of ideas.
  • To enhance language fluency, vocabulary and public-speaking skills.
  • To build self-confidence and help students overcome stage-phobia.
  • To promote holistic development through co-curricular engagement.

3. Participants and Grouping

Students from Standards I to XII participated in the competition. To ensure age-appropriate assessment and fair competition, the participants were divided into three groups:

  • Group A: Standards I to IV
  • Group B: Standards V to VIII
  • Group C: Standards IX to XII

4. Topics

Students were required to speak impromptu on topics assigned on the spot. The topics were carefully selected to be relevant, age-appropriate and thought-provoking:

5. Panel of Judges

The competition was judged by the Principal Ms. Dimple Shukla, Ms. Madhvi Patel, Ms. Betsy Gohil, Ms. Karuna Kundnani and Ms. Bharti Saxena for their respective sections. Their experience and fair evaluation ensured a transparent and constructive assessment process. Ms. Harsha Sharma one of the eminent senior teachers of the school hosted the programme.

6. Parameters of Judgement

Participants were assessed on the following well-defined parameters to ensure comprehensive evaluation of both content and delivery:

Many participants demonstrated remarkable improvement in overcoming stage-phobia and communicating effectively before an audience.

The event successfully contributed to the holistic development of students by fostering critical thinking, communication competence and personal confidence – essential life skills for their academic and personal growth.

8. Conclusion

The Extempore Competition held on 8th August 2026 was a resounding success. It not only celebrated the speaking talents of the students but also reinforced the school’s commitment to all-round development. The organisers, judges and participants deserve appreciation for making the event purposeful and memorable.
